ABOUT KRISTIN

Kristin Wertz is a self-taught abstract expressionist painter with a lifelong love of creative design, pops of color, and finding joy and beauty in the everyday. Working with mixed mediums, including acrylic paint, oil paint, pastels, and charcoal, each of her pieces tells a unique story layered with rich texture and movement.

Kristin finds that painting abstracts is an outlet for expressing the multifaceted beauty of unspoken emotion. She seeks to create work that evokes joy, playfulness, and worship to the Lord, the Ultimate Artist and Source of all Creativity. She resides in Dallas, Texas, where she works full-time as an artist with her husband and two children.

From a young age, Kristin’s passion for creating and finding beauty was clear in every part of her life.

After completing her undergraduate studies at Vanderbilt University and earning a graduate degree from Southern Methodist University's School of Business, Kristin applied her creativity, strategic problem-solving skills, and deep love for people in fields such as corporate banking, strategic planning, marketing, corporate social responsibility, and public relations.

In 2017, after her son Noah was diagnosed with autism and several learning and developmental differences, Kristin turned to painting as a way to connect with the Lord and process the unexpected. She quickly discovered the therapeutic value of painting and creative expression. Today, Kristin often paints with her two children, playing worship music and inviting neighborhood and school friends to paint their hearts onto the canvas.

Thus says the Lord who made you, who formed you from the womb and will help you: Fear not, O Jacob my servant, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen. For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit upon your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants. They shall spring up among the grass like willows by flowing streams.

Isaiah 44:2-4 ESV
